Nonetheless, when it comes to Zooey Deschanel and her way of ending things, she mentioned her desire to recreate 500 Days of Summer, to offer closure to her character. Willing to give Summer a happily ever after, Deschanel revealed looking for a different ending and second chances.

Popularly known for her appearance as Anita in the 2000 comedy-drama Almost Famous, Zooey Deschanel became a renowned star and a household name. Following her role in Cameron Crowe’s masterpiece, Deschanel got the opportunity to appear in the 2009 romantic indie movie 500 Days of Summer.

Although her role as Summer in the 2009 movie alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned her into a hated pop culture character, Zooey Deschanel gained immense popularity. However, as mentioned, Deschanel’s character was disliked by fans for the way she treated her onscreen love interest, Tom (Gordon-Levitt).

According to the film, Tom fell in love with Summer but got his heart broken. Thus, eventually, Tom picked up the pieces and moved on to fall in love with Autumn (Minka Kelly). Recalling this ending, during an interview with US Weekly, Zooey Deschanel expressed her desire to give her own dream ending of a happily ever after to Summer.

Discussing with US Weekly, Zooey Deschanel envisioned a romantic ending for her onscreen character Summer. Denying the fact that her character broke Tom’s heart, the actress expressed her views in 2019, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. 

I’m just so surprised when women will be like, ‘I hated your character in that movie!’ I’m like, ‘Really? She said everything from the beginning!”

Thus, willing to offer her character a proper happy ending, Deschanel shared her idea with US Weekly. Wishing for Summer to be with Tom, the actress mentioned,
