J.K. Rowling has been the subject of the spotlight for years for various positive and negative reasons. While Harry Potter has been a significant aspect of her career, the writer is also subjected to worldwide hate due to her comments which are deemed as transphobic by many. Now the writer is in the headlines once again after revealing that she doubted her sexuality when she was young.
It was in 2019 when the writer started getting hate from netizens and fans over her views on transgender people. Since then, this hate has only amplified over the years after several Harry Potter stars severed their connections from her. As J.K. Rowling appeared in a recent podcast, the writer didn’t feel shy to narrate some untold secrets from her younger days.
What did J.K. Rowling reveal about her sexuality?
Recently appearing in The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling podcast, the controversial writer shed light on several aspects of her past. She revealed that growing up, she couldn’t figure out her sexuality and sometimes wondered if she was gay.
“As an adolescent… I questioned my sexuality, thinking, ‘Well, I can tell my friends are pretty. Does that mean I’m gay?’ I grew up to be a straight woman, but I’ve never forgotten that feeling of anxiety around my body.”
Rowling further explained her situation and added that she was very anxious due to her changing body in her growing years. She said:
“I didn’t feel like I fitted in. Aged 11 or 12 I looked very androgynous with short hair and I was acutely anxious about my changing body and became aware it was attracting attention that I didn’t welcome, particularly from boys at school.”
J.K. Rowling has repeatedly made clear that she isn’t afraid of expressing her opinions and beliefs. In this podcast, she admitted that she is often questioned about how her legacy is affected due to her questionable opinions. According to the 58-year-old, her opinions and beliefs are more valuable as she admitted of not caring much about her legacy.
While speaking to the host Megan Phelps-Roper, Rowling admitted that she doesn’t think that the 14-year-olds are not mature enough to know if they are ready for the transition- “I don’t believe that even a 14-year-old can truly understand what the loss of their fertility is.” The mother-to-3 gave her an example where she stated- “At 14 I would have said that I didn’t want children but (motherhood) has been the most joyful, wonderful thing in my life.”
J.K. Rowling is removed from The Museum of Pop Culture
Recently J.K. Rowling received another major blow to her career when it was reported that The Museum of Pop Culture will not have any place for her. Reportedly, her statements are too controversial, and according to the museum’ Exhibitions Project Manager Chris Moore, her name demeans the critically acclaimed franchise.

Chris Moore strongly condemned the writer and as a transgender, insisted on believing that the iconic novel series were written without any author.
“We would love to go with the internet’s theory that these books were actually written without an author, but this certain person is a bit too vocal with her super hateful and divisive views to be ignored. For the time being, the curators decided to remove any of her artifacts from this gallery to reduce her impact.”
It can’t be denied that as much as the franchise is loved, J.K. Rowling’s comments have divided people for a long time. But as earlier stated by the writer herself, it doesn’t look like, she cares much about her reputation and wants to live on her own terms.
