British star Daniel Radcliffe is popularly known for his iconic on-screen character Harry Potter. Over 8 films, the star became a household name and endeared himself to audiences while portraying the young wizard from Hogwarts created by author J.K Rowling. The films were a stepping stone to Radcliffe taking a plunge into the entertainment business by signing up for many interesting roles in films.
Daniel Radcliffe has also shared a great rapport with all his co-stars on set. The actor has even come to the aid of many of his colleagues during the filming of the Harry Potter series. One actor who played a prominent role in the films was fortunate to receive the young star’s support for a unique decision that he made.
Daniel Radcliffe Came To Jason Isaacs’ Rescue
Jason Isaacs who played Lucius Malfoy, the father of Harry Potter’s arch-rival Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, recalled his experiences while working on his character. This included finding a perfect accent that would embody the snooty and ruthless side that was a main feature of his character. Speaking of the method of research he used to zero in on the perfect accent, Isaacs said,
“There’s a particular art critic in England who has a voice like fingernails on a blackboard. I combined him with a teacher I thought was patronizing and sadistic when I was in drama school. To me what [the accent] smacks of is a sense of entitlement.”
Director Chris Columbus though did not share Isaacs’ thoughts on the accent and expressed his concern about the actor incorporating it into the film. It was then that the titular star of the film Daniel Radcliffe stepped in to support Jason Isaacs and his decision. Radcliffe who called the accent “really cool” succeeded in persuading Columbus to accept Issacs’ idea.
Daniel Radcliffe Wanted To Play Spider-Man
British star Daniel Radcliffe got the coveted opportunity to bring J.K Rowling’s young wizard to life in the Harry Potter films. While the character is a superhero in his own right, Radcliffe once confessed that his favorite superhero was Spider-Man. Speaking of the traits he loved most in the iconic Marvel character, Radcliffe mentioned the anonymity that Spider-Man enjoyed behind his mask that made him more exciting to viewers. When asked if he harbored a secret desire to play the character, Radcliffe said,
“I would’ve been a good Spider-Man, but the boat has sailed on that and I’m very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He’s fantastic.”
Post his successful stint as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has made some eclectic and interesting choices as an actor including getting back to doing a lot of theater work as well.
