Daniel Craig will forever be remembered as one of the best actors to ever portray the role of James Bond since 2006’s Casino Royale. Killing bad guys in his tuxedo, Craig’s portrayal of Bond has been associated with the modern Bond who is a gentleman and a spy.
Unlike the Bonds of before, Craig has brought the values of the current generation into his movies. The Martian star Matt Damon, who portrayed the role of Jason Bourne in the Bourne franchise, has opined that Bond was a misogynistic womanizer who didn’t have any moral values or obligations but Daniel Craig changed all that!
Matt Damon Insulted James Bond For Having No Emotions
With his own franchise in the mix, Matt Damon was asked the question about who would win in a fight: James Bond or Jason Bourne. Although the fight would technically depend on physical strength and technique, Damon decided to take things emotionally and talk about how both the characters have different sets of moral values.
In an interview with GQ, Damon talked about how he is happy portraying the role of Jason Bourne and insinuated that he would not ever portray the role of James Bond if offered the chance. Stating the difference in moral values between the two characters, Damon opined that Jason Bourne would win in a fight between him and James Bond!
“I like Bourne better than Bond. Bourne has today’s values. Bond has the values of the 1960s. Daniel’s Bond has upgraded him and brought him more into the present, but, classically, that character is a misogynist who likes swilling martinis and killing people and not giving a sh*t.”
He further continued,
“Whereas Jason Bourne is a serial monogamist – and he’s tortured by the things he’s done and feels empathy and compassion for other people. And Bourne would obviously win in a fight.”
Well, it seems that Daniel Craig took to the words of Matt Damon as the actor strictly addressed that the heroines in his Bond films will not be referred to as “Bond girls”.
Daniel Craig Refrains From Using The Word “Bond girls”
Starring as James Bond in 2006 in Casino Royale, the world saw Daniel Craig portray the iconic role beautifully for several years. With his last movie released in 2021, the actor stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that he did not like the term “Bond girls” in his films!
“No more Bond girls. They don’t exist anymore. They may exist again, but not in my movies.”
Daniel Craig was last seen donning the tuxedo of James Bond in the iconic 2021 movie No Time to Die which saw the demise of Craig’s portrayal of James Bond. No Time to Die received a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDB and 83% on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
