As the MCU progresses ever so closer to its next big conclusion of Phase 5, there is a lot of development taking place on both the small and big-screen entertainment front by Marvel Studios. One of the biggest and most integral chapters of that progress has to be Samuel L. Jackson’s Disney+ series Secret Invasion.

With the star’s return as the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jackson has brought some heat with the show as there have been some major strides in terms of the Phase 5 progression. This, unfortunately, also means that there have been some tragedies that will affect the entire cinematic universe in the long run, one of them being the death of a certain character.

As the newest phase of the MCU gets closer and closer to the end, the cinematic experience is getting that much more intense, which has all culminated in the latest Disney+ TV series Secret Invasion, headlined by the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Therefore, with higher stakes on the line, the sacrifices that follow are just of an equal magnitude, if not more, and with the latest episode of the series, we saw that sacrifice of Talos, who was played by Ben Mendelsohn. And with the end of his character, the star expresses his feelings about his experience.

With the release of Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of Secret Invasion, a documentary consisting of the idea and its execution that went behind the creation of the series, the Ready Player One star opened up about his tenure playing the Skurll aide of Nick Fury in the franchise for some time now. He said that while he was happy that he got the opportunity to become part of the MCU and also revealed that he would definitely miss being on the sets, and especially miss shooting scenes with Jackson. He said:

“I’m going to miss this one; I’m going to miss it a lot. I’m going to miss the degree to which this is in people’s hearts. I’m going to miss the people that a lot of the audience don’t see, who make up the real experience and what it is to do these things — people I work with every day. And I’m going to miss being on-set with Sam.”

Therefore, with a heartfelt message, the star leaves behind his memories and his major contributions to the MCU with his character.

With S.H.I.E.L.D. being out of action for a good chunk of time, Earth has been steadily invaded by alien species known as The Skrulls, who with the ability to shapeshift and mimic humans, secretly come to Earth in order to infiltrate them and take control of humanity from the inside. And in recent times, their activities have caught the attention of Nick Fury.

Therefore, with the help of his trusted soldiers as well as friends and acquaintances, the former director seeks to take out the threat before it manifests itself to such an extent that it starts affecting the daily lives of innocent human beings.

Matt Damon has molded a splendid legacy in his decades-spanning career. Certainly, Damon is now one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. However, like most celebrities, he had to face his fair share of competition in the industry as well.

The Martian actor once crossed paths with Fight Club actor Edward Norton as a contender for Gregory Hoblit’s 1996 movie Primal Fear. Of course, it was not the only time the duo would face off against each other for a role, but the movie definitely changed the course of the actors’ lives.

Edward Norton’s Breakthrough Role Seriously Wounded Matt Damon

Both Edward Norton and Matt Damon were rising stars at the time of the making of Primal Fear and they were desperate for some bigger roles with potential impact. Norton had previously worked in several minor roles but he needed a breakthrough and that’s when he asked casting director Deborah Aquila for an opportunity. Norton once said (via Daily Actors),

“I sent a fax to her [Aquila] at Paramount. Dating myself. Trying to desperately say I was, [that] you saw me for this animated short in front of an independent at Sundance, or something like that, and I’d love to get in [for an audition].”

He added,

“When I went in to audition for Primal Fear, I asked if I could come into the room. Then, Deb came into the room, and I was sitting on the floor by the couch in the scene in the prison cell. Deb took a look at me and grasped that I didn’t want to chat, that I just wanted to get into it. She came over, pushed the table aside, and sat down on the floor with me. I looked at her and realized, ‘There is no assistant; She doesn’t have a script in her hand. She’s sitting down to do the scene with me. So, let’s go.’ And she did.”

Among “thousands and thousands of people for that part” Damon was also in the mix and he really wanted that. But when he lost the role to Norton, he was devastated, however, it inspired the actor to create something beautiful that pushed him through the doors of the Oscars.

Losing Primal Fear Inspired Matt Damon to Create Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting, without a doubt, is one of the best movies of Damon’s career. But before that, the actor wanted to have a taste of movies that eventually created a mark in the critically acclaimed movie list which include Dead Poets Society and Primal Fear. The actor auditioned for both movies but failed to secure the roles to his name. But Primal Fear had a lasting impact on the 52-year-old.

Damon told Off The Camera Show,

“You know it’s like when primal fear came along and everyone knew I mean, I literally spent money on a dialect coach that I didn’t have because there were two different dialects in them and I was like I gotta work on this and cut because it was clear that whoever got that role was going to blow up. And that was one of the things that was really the impetus behind Ben [Affleck] and I writing Good Will Hunting and focusing on it was because when primal fear when Edward Norton got primal fear we went like there’s not going to be another one of those that’s going to come around like we got to do our own thing.”

Later, Norton lost Francis Ford Coppola’s 1997 movie The Rainmaker role to Damon. However, The Incredible Hulk actor was not particularly interested in it as much as his agent was. He went to do American History X instead. In 1998, the actors collaborated on John Dahl’s Rounders.

Primal Fear is available for streaming on Paramount+.

Gary Oldman has been hailed as one of the greatest actors of his generation, and rightly so. His ability to transform himself into a wide array of characters is a testament to his immense talent. Whether he’s portraying a villainous drug lord, a legendary British Prime Minister, or a charismatic spy, Oldman’s dedication to his craft is always evident. And an actor of his caliber and stature even had “stage fright” in his career. Let’s delve into it.

Gary Oldman’s Standout Performances in One Movie Where He Felt Stage Fright

One of the standout moments in Gary Oldman‘s career came with his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a film that not only earned him critical acclaim but also a much-deserved Oscar nomination.

Directed by Tomas Alfredson and based on John le Carré’s espionage novel of the same name, the film is a slow-burning, intricate thriller set in the Cold War era. Oldman’s portrayal of George Smiley, a retired British intelligence officer called back to uncover a mole within the agency, is nothing short of mesmerizing.

However, before filming, the actor had felt “Bone-crushing stage fright.” During The Hollywood Reporter‘s Actor Roundtable, the actor was asked about his Oscar-nominated role in the movie. Oldman reflected on the moment and said:

I had bone-crushing stage fright. It was really debilitating. I think also it was trying to slay the dragon for many people. I’ve since spoken with other actors, and I realized I was not alone. It was like an AA meeting or something.”

In Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Oldman’s performance is characterized by its subtlety and nuance. It’s a performance that relies on restraint and quiet intensity, and Oldman delivers it with masterful precision.

Gary Oldman Thought He Couldn’t Do The Role

What makes Oldman’s performance in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy exceptional is his ability to convey so much with so little. Oldman’s performance in this film earned him critical acclaim and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor.

Meanwhile, the actor once had serious concerns about playing the role of George Smiley. In an interview with Playboy, he said:

On the other side of that coin, the most stressful role, the most painful to do, was Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. There’s no mask. It’s very exposed. You have to play boring in an interesting way. Not that Smiley is a boring character, but he’s plain. Everything is dialed way down.”

Talking about why had a breakdown, he asserted:

I understand why Alec Guinness had a kind of nervous breakdown leading up to the shooting of the original Tinker Tailor and wanted out. I had a breakdown too, briefly.”

Once I signed on, I thought, ‘F**k me! I can’t do this. I can’t pull this off. Everybody’s going to see what a fake I am,” the actor added.

Despite all the self-doubt, Oldman nailed the role and went on to portray an Oscar-nominated performance.

Leonardo DiCaprio has worked in the entertainment industry for more than three decades and has never once failed to compel his audience with his immaculate works. But throughout his journey of becoming a thoroughly established and widely reputed icon in Hollywood, DiCaprio realized one of the biggest mistakes of the film industry: their repeating mistake of misrepresenting Native Americans.

To be more precise, he has grown so tired and frustrated with this constant ongoing cycle, that Leonardo DiCaprio now aims at fixing this one major fault of Hollywood through his upcoming Martin Scorses drama/crime film, Killers of the Flower Moon.

Leonardo DiCaprio is of the opinion that Hollywood has a lot of work to take care of in regards to its past portrayals of Native Americans on the big screen. Talking to Vogue UK, he shared how frustrated he is with this mistake of the film industry that has become a habit now.

“Hollywood has a long history and chequered past in its depiction of Native American people,” DiCaprio said. “We need to do more. You know, we are coming towards a great reckoning of our past. The more that these stories can be told in a truthful way, the more it can be a healing process.”

However, that’s not all: being the terrific actor he is, Leonardo DiCaprio has finally found his way to fix this one mistake through his upcoming Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon.

During the same interview, both Leonardo DiCaprio and his co-star from Killers of the Flower Moon, Lily Gladstone talked details about their upcoming film. Back when the Midwestern Native American tribe of Osage found a way to earn passive income through oil and became rich from it, several white Americans weren’t all too pleased about it.

Among the whites was Ernest Burkhart (played by DiCaprio), ‘a compelling mix of unwitting privilege and thoughtless desire.’ He, at the encouragement of his uncle Bill Hale (played by Robert De Niro) who is a prominent businessman acting as an ally to the Osage, married an Osage woman named Mollie (played by Gladstone). This led to the planning of a sequential murder of her family with the help of local outlaws and corrupt officials.

This event saw the killing of so many Osage people for their ‘headrights’ that it is widely remembered by the Midwestern Native American tribe as the period of the Reign of Terror.

“It’s not that long ago that the Reign of Terror happened,” Gladstone said. “I don’t want to label this a Western. I’m happy that it’s being labeled a tragedy.” Dicaprio added, “It’s a completely forgotten part of American history and an open wound that still festers.”

Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone have worked really hard for their upcoming movie just to be able to represent the Native Americans in the true way that they deserve to be represented. Hopefully, their objective will be understood and their aim will not be compromised.

Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon is set to hit the theatres by the 20th of October, 2023.

Dolph Lundgren found himself throwing all the wrong punches as Ivan Drago in the fourth installment of the Rocky series. Lundgren even put the legendary Sylvester Stallone in the hospital and had an altercation with Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed. Rocky IV marked his breakthrough in Hollywood, and since then, he has appeared in more than 80 films, including the Rocky spinoff Creed and The Expendables franchise.

Dolph Lundgren has always maintained his impressive physique by hitting the gym regularly. The Swedish actor got his Rocky role due to his imposing 6 feet 5 inches tall figure. In 2009, three masked raiders made the foolish decision to break into his home and tie up his wife to rob the place, while Lundgren was away on business. The criminals terrorized Anette Qviberg, a jewelry designer, and Lundgren’s wife of 15 years at the time.

But, once the raiders stumbled upon a family picture with the martial artist actor in it, they quickly abandoned their criminal mission. This incident traumatized the couple who lived in the Marbella district in Spain, home to celebrities like Antonio Banderas and Simon Cowell. An insider close to Lundgren told Daily Mail:

“Things might have turned out very differently if Dolph had been in. The criminals fled as soon as they realised the owner of the house they had raided was someone they wouldn’t want to come up against in a fight. They left Anette pretty traumatized. She’s Dolph’s angel and anyone who messes with her is messing with him.”

The Creed II actor holds a Karate black belt and the three raiders wouldn’t have had a chance against him. It was reported that Qviberg wanted to relocate after the incident, but The Mechanik actor persuaded her to stay and increased the security. However, their daughter, Ida, suffered from PTSD after the incident. The incident also had a detrimental impact on their relationship as the couple eventually divorced two years later, in 2011.

Lundgren has adhered to a precise nutrition and exercise regimen for the last 40 years, which allowed him to maintain his fitness even in his senior years. During the 1980s, Stallone helped the Missionary Man actor plan his routine, emphasizing a higher protein intake and dividing his daily meals into five or six smaller portions.

Lundgren admitted that he was never really super strong before Rocky, with only his towering height and long arms as his major assets. However, once he came to the U.S. and met Stallone, he was training six days a week and built a reputed fitness that would eventually save his wife’s life. Given that their relationship continues to get stronger as time passes by, many have been speculating about their next step towards their future together. Amid the growing curiosity, the former made headlines which seemed to have directly fueled their engagement rumors. However, the Euphoria actress eventually broke the silence on her rumored engagement.

Zendaya has already established herself with some iconic roles that need no introduction including her work as MJ in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Due to her involvement with the Spider-Man projects, she met her now-beau, Tom Holland who portrays the titular character in Home trilogy.

Since their debut, fans have been gushing over the on-screen couple however their off-camera interactions led many to wonder if there was some real chemistry cooking up between the duo. The speculations finally turned to reality when the duo was caught in a PDA in 2021, with the pair acknowledging their dating era.

Since then, they had been keeping their relationship out of the public but recently caught fans’ attention when the former posted a selfie on her Instagram Story. The Thursday story featured her Golden State Warriors hat but what held everyone’s interest was a massive ring she donned on her ring finger. However, she later clarified that she never focused on the ring in the first place.

In a since-deleted video on her Instagram story, she mentioned,

“I can’t post anything, you guys. I posted it for my hat. Like, not for the ring on my right finger, you guys. Seriously, you think that’s how I would drop the news? You think? Like, what?”

Check the tweet here.

Since wearing the ring led many to speculate whether Holland had proposed to her or not, the Shake It Up actress set the records straight as she clarified that the pretty ring held no significance to her engagement.

Given that the ring ended up sparking the advancement in the duo’s relationship, it was nothing but a normal picture. She made sure to remove the speculation from its roots by uploading a full picture of herself on her Instagram story captioning,

“Let me just put the full body back so y’all can relax lmao.”

While there are instances when celebrities often get public by subtly hinting at their relationship status, it is just not the case with our Marvel couple. Speaking with Elle, the actress further addressed the downside of being a celebrity, especially when it comes to the overwhelming public attention she always garners.

Talking about getting extreme attention, especially on her relationship with the Spider-Man: No Way Home actor, she mentioned,

“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

While they still prefer to keep their relationship low-key, the pair are now more open to showing affection to one another in public. They have often addressed their relationship in public appearances meanwhile sharing some sweet moments via social media.

In the dynamic world of Hollywood, where image often reigns supreme, Rachel McAdams stood out for her principled stance on a magazine cover’s n*de photoshoot.

In an industry where celebrities are sometimes defined by what they didn’t do, McAdams made a bold choice in 2006 that resonated far beyond the flashbulbs and glossy pages.

During a Vanity Fair shoot alongside Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley, lensed by the renowned Annie Leibovitz, McAdams arrived with a clear boundary in mind.

She was informed that her fellow models had agreed to pose n*de, a requirement she wasn’t comfortable with. Consequently, the actress chose to walk off the set, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her principles.

In her own words, McAdams explained her decision to the Los Angeles Times, she explained,

“I didn’t see any other way. It wasn’t something I could ever possibly see myself doing. I have no issues doing it for a part if it makes sense, if it’s not gratuitous and I think it’s adding to the story. But not as myself on the cover of a magazine about Hollywood’s most powerful young women.”

McAdams’ steadfast artistic boundaries have extended to her film choices as well, sometimes leading her to turn down roles and take a provisional break, a decision she has felt conflicted about.

Her journey in Hollywood not only showcases her acting prowess but also her resilience in navigating an industry where artistic integrity and personal boundaries often intersect in complex ways.

Rachel McAdams Experienced Guilt Over Her Temporary Acting Pause

Glorified for her exceptional acting skills, McAdams embarked on a unique journey when she decided to step away from the spotlight.

McAdams, however, couldn’t escape feelings of guilt during her acting break. She questioned whether she was squandering the opportunities before her. While speaking with Bustle she revealed,

“I felt guilty for not capitalizing on the opportunity that I was being given because I knew I was in such a lucky spot. But I also knew it wasn’t quite jiving with my personality and what I needed to stay sane.”

Further, the Mean Girls performer said,

“It’s taken years to understand what I intuitively was doing. I guess I always had a sense that it would be OK; either it’s going to work out or it’s not.”

Despite the initial uncertainty, McAdams now reflected on her hiatus as a source of empowerment. This glimpse into her inner world reminds us that even accomplished actors grapple with moments of introspection and doubt.

As she continues to shine in her career and embrace her role as a mother and artist McAdams’ journey serves as proof of the complexities and achievements of the human experience in the land of Hollywood.

While there may be an almost infinite library of shows and movies relating to every category and genre for the audience to indulge themselves in on Netflix, the streaming giant has a handful of shows that take the top spot when it comes to viewership, and Alexandra Breckenridge’s popular drama series Virgin River certainly takes the top spot.

The love and support that the show has received all these years over the last four seasons has enticed the OTT platform to invest more into the series, which brought us the most recent fifth season. But it seems like the charm of the show is slowly starting to die down, and it has everything to do with Mel’s character development.

Fans Of Virgin River Are Calling Alexandra Breckenridge’s Character Clingy

While there is no shortage of drama series on any of the vast numbers of OTT platforms today, the ones that make the most profound impact on the audience have the highest chance to stay for good, something that Netflix’s Virgin River series was able to accomplish with its first season itself back in 2019. Today, the much-awaited fifth season has been making the rounds with its recent release among old fans and new, although, most of them seem to be talking about just how monotonous Alexandra Breckenridge’s character of Mel has become with the latest installment.

With the release of the first part of the fifth season on September 7, fans of the show started a conversation on the r/VirginRiverNetflix subreddit where a user posted about the tonality of Mel’s character, which was becoming a polar performance with only two sides to her, one of them being her very clingy and needy side that people are starting to get annoyed with recently. Among these comments, there were a few that expressed that Breckenridge’s performance was inching closer to a lack of acting with just the same repeated expressions and emotions. One comment read:

“I couldn’t quite put my finger on why she’s become so annoying and this is it.”

Therefore, if not addressed soon enough by the creators, this one flaw that the fans are finding irksome might become the reason for the show’s failure.

What Is Virgin River About?

Based on the literary series of the same name by American author Robyn Carr, Virgin River is mostly feel-good and wholesome with few instances of turmoil and problems scattered here and there. With its soft romantic premise in the drama genre, the general ups and downs don’t feel as severe but are still impactful enough to leave a lasting impression.

The story follows the tale of Mel Monroe, a nurse practitioner who has decided to leave her old life behind to start fresh. Therefore, she packs her bags and moves to the rural town of Virgin River from Los Angeles, where unexpected encounters shape her life.

Jared Leto has always been in the news for his strange backstage antics. Even after much debate, he is widely considered a prominent method actor. While the Suicide Squad actor’s take on method acting is quite debatable, Leto was quick to admit that he feels obsessive-compulsive with the movies he is in. During a roundtable with several other notable faces from the industry, Jared Leto talked about his feelings about his roles.

It was in the 2013 edition of The Hollywood Reporter’s actors roundtable when they assembled 6 notable actors from the industry- Matthew McConaughey, Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, Jared Leto, Josh Brolin, and Michael B. Jordan. The actors talked about different facets of acting and their varied experiences in the field.

Reinvention is a major element in the career of any actor. Every actor tries to do something new every time so that they don’t get repetitive and stale with time. The actors responded differently when this topic was raised in The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Roundtable. While Jake Gyllenhaal gave the credit to “Bills”, Josh Brolin stated that it is out of “fear” that an actor re-creates himself in every movie.

When it came to Jared Leto admitted that it gets impossible for him to let go even if there is a single scene where he didn’t give his best.

“I get a terminal dissatisfaction on films. If I was bad in one scene, it’s impossible to let go. And it can make or break my day. If I drank, I would probably drink a lot.”

The 51-year-old actor has been a prominent face in the industry for a long time. The actor has been a part of numerous iconic films as well as side roles in his movie career. The Academy Award winner portrayed some of the best performances in projects like Dallas Buyers Club, American Psycho, Fight Club, and Requiem for a Dream.

Although there has been a lot of debate around it, Jared Leto is widely considered a “method actor” for his backstage antics. While the fans have their points for or against the notion, the Morbius lead has a different opinion altogether.

Is Jared Leto a method actor?

Despite innumerable media stories headlining Jared Leto as a method actor, not everyone agrees with that. A large section of the audience argues that method acting is an art and doesn’t imply the extremities touched by the Joker actor. It was reported that the actor gifted a series of strange items like s*x toys and animal carcasses to his Suicide Squad co-stars. To prepare for his role in Requiem for a Dream, Leto stayed on the streets.

In an interview with Variety, Jared Leto said that he doesn’t like himself to be called a “method actor”. According to him, the terms vary for everyone.

“I appreciate the term, I think it’s a little cloudy, the definition. And it, it could also be really pretentious as well. I was thinking of it as my job to show up and do the best work that I can. It’s my job to show up, do whatever I can, to be overprepared. And to deliver. It’s also my job to show up and, you know, be a pleasure to work with. And, and, and, and to be collaborative, and to have a good experience on set.”

A lot of co-stars also spoke about how the Panic Room actor involved himself so much in the roles that nobody could recognize Leto on the set. So it can be said that the topic is quite debatable and subjective. But it can’t be denied that the actor has been seen in some of the most memorable and unique roles in his career of more than three decades.
