"Something about this industry is not healthy": Tom Holland Is Not The Only Marvel Star Who Is Fed Up With Hollywood, Chris Evans Makes An Upsetting Confession

In today’s time, the fame and fortune in the Hollywood industry favors those who can consistently provide blockbusters in the world of cinema, and MCU star Chris Evans is at the top of the list most of the time. Playing the iconic role of Captain America in the cinematic universe has made him the most popular star in the world to a level that only a few of his peers from the MCU can match.

Thus, the entire Hollywood industry welcomed him with open arms after his tenure as The First Avenger was over, and he had to leave the cinematic juggernaut behind to pursue other projects in the business. But contrary to conventional belief, the star feels like no matter how he looks at it, he feels like the industry is not a healthy place to be in.

For the past decade, the impact of the MCU has been something that was unprecedented, which trickles down to the films and the characters that everyone came to know and love. Among them, Captain America has been the foundational pillar of the franchise, which made actor Chris Evans a major part of an entire cinematic universe. This also translated to his meteoric rise to fame after he assumed the role of Steve Rogers, which has made him one of the biggest names in Hollywood. But unlike other stars, he has opened up about how it had an adverse effect on him.

In his recent interview with GQ MagazineThe Gray Man star talked about how his life changed after he entered the industry, and when he did, how he has taken fame and fortune. Here, he also outlined the constant pressure and anxiety after becoming Captain America in the MCU, which made him the star he is today. He said that he felt all of the aforementioned emotions when he was on set and while doing promotions for the films, which gradually took a toll on him, which is also the reason why he moved back into his hometown after leaving Los Angeles. He said:

“I was really apprehensive about taking the role initially, I remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty. You always end up questioning, Is this what I should be doing? I just wasn’t sure if I was moving closer to myself or further away. And something inside me kept saying that I was getting further away—that something about this industry wasn’t healthy.”

While he may have opened up about his concerns and the effect that the industry has had on him, he isn’t the only one to feel like Hollywood is not for him.

Not only is Evans talking about the dark side of the business, but his fellow MCU co-star Tom Holland has also talked about how being in Hollywood comes with its own sets of difficulties and challenges that are harder to overcome than most might think. In an episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, the star talked about wanting to distance himself from the industry, saying:

“Look, I really am a massive fan of making movies but I really do not like Hollywood, it is not for me, the business really scares me. I understand that I’m a part of that business, and I enjoy my kind of interactions with it. But that said, I am always looking for ways to kind of remove myself from it, to kind of just live as normal a life as possible.”

Just goes to show how behind all the lights and flashing cameras, the world of the film industry has some darkness that not many people can see.
