After previously ending his journey with the Star Wars trilogy, burnt out and doubtful of his return, the actor discussed his possible comeback, during a 2022 SiriusXM interview. Claiming that he is “so open” to being a part of Star Wars future, Oscar Isaac noted one condition for Poe Dameron’s return.

Oscar Isaac Is Open To A Good Star Wars Story 

Playing the fan-favorite role of Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (2015–2019), Oscar Isaac once left the project, exhausted and doubtful of his return. However, during his 2022 appearance on SiriusXM interview, the actor teased his possible return to the renowned franchise.

I don’t know. I’m open to anything. You never know. I have no real feeling one way or another. I’m open to any good story.” 

Revealing his positive decision and the possibility of returning as Poe Dameron, Oscar Isaac later mentioned what’s the actual issue that’s holding him back from doing a Star Wars comeback. Discussing how time is becoming a challenging factor for him, the actor stated, that he might return if offered a good story.

Time is the one thing that becomes challenging…as you get older and kids and all that. Where do [movies] fit in? If there was a great story and a great director and [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy] came to me and was like, ‘I have this great idea,’ then I’m so open to it.” 

Before fans get excited over his return, there’s another thing that needs to be addressed. As his discussion with SiriusXM didn’t quite hint at his sturdy decision for a comeback, Oscar Isaac previously noted one condition that can force him to reprise his role as Poe Dameron.

Ending his journey with Star Wars, Oscar Isaac expressed his desperation to return to more character-driven work, during several interviews. However, as he often got asked about his return to the Star Wars franchise, the actor clarified his decision once and for all, while stating his one condition for a comeback.

During an online panel interview with Deadline in 2020, Oscar Isaac opened up about how he wants to explore beyond the land of greenscreen. Willing to navigate beyond what he initially started his career with, the actor mentioned his desperation for a character study. 

I’ve been in green-screen space land for quite a few years and I was desperate to do a character study.”

Admitting how a Star Wars-sized movie was “not really what I set out to do”, Isaac discussed what inspires him as an actor. That’s when he was asked about the possibility of his return to the franchise. To which the actor joked and mentioned his one condition upon which he might return as Poe Dameron.

Shattering fans’ hopes, the Dune actor let the discussion about his potential return to the franchise, end there. Without discussing further about Star Wars, Isaac went ahead with the Deadline panel interview.
