Talking about legacies that have forever been immortalized in the film industry and the history books of cinema, the first name that comes to mind is the iconic Star Wars franchise. This was especially true for Late actress Carrie Fisher when she had to revive her role as Princess Leia after a long hiatus.

When it comes to the art of cinema, the past was all about the artistic expression of a creator in a single film, but when George Lucas executed his larger-than-life ambitious project and created the original Star Wars trilogy that later gave birth an entire cinematic universe, becoming a monumental benchmark in the business. Part of the charm of the series has to do with the exemplary performances by the stars to such perfection that when Carrie Fisher, the actress who played the role of Princess Leia, was asked to reprise her role, she felt really anxious.

With the digital release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there was also the addition of Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, which was a documentary that detailed the creation of the film from the latest trilogy. There, Fisher opened up about how after almost three decades, she was asked to reprise her role as Luke Skywalker’s sister in the film, which obviously made her nervous. Considering she was practically known for her portrayal of the princess. She had to make sure it was perfect, just like in the past. She said (via Yahoo):

“I’m the custodian of Princess Leia, so it’s my job to kind of protect her. It’s my whole life, so I was very nervous. The first day I had was this massive scene. I was scared that I would make mistakes, and I made mistakes, It was basically the worst day I ever had on a film set in my life, It ended, and I got to go to sleep and come in another day, and it was better.”

Thus, putting her life’s work on her shoulders once again, she managed to create a second impact with the reprisal of her most iconic role, establishing her legacy in the industry once again before her untimely demise in 2016.

Therefore, to celebrate and commemorate this occasion, Lucasfilm also released Secret of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey.

This documentary details the journey of new additions Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Adam Driver, along with veterans like Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill, as well as members of the crew on how they brought this new vision to life.
